Q: I do not plan to wrench on my Hog; should I buy the DVDs?

A: It’s a good idea to know how your Harley works.  If you plan on having someone else do the service on your Harley, the Fix My Hog® DVDs will show you what should be getting done. If you are new to riding, the DVDs give you a great overview of the bike and the jargon that’s used in the industry.

Q: What DVD is applicable to my Harley-Davidson?

A: The Softail® Edition Maintenance DVD and the Softail®/Dyna® Bolt-On Performance Edition are applicable to Softail and Dyna models from late 1984, when they switched to the Evo® Motor, through Present day Twin Cam 96™ here are some (not all) of the model names:

Dyna

Softail®

The Sportster Maintenance Edition DVD is applicable for all model Sportsters (XL) from 1986 through Present day.

The Touring Maintenance Edition and the Touring Bolt-On Performance Edition are applicable to all Touring models from late 1984, when they switched to the Evo® Motor, through Present day Twin Cam 96™ here are some (not all) of the model names:

Q: I have the Factory Service Manual, why should I get a Fix My Hog DVD?

A: The manuals are great and a must. However, they are written for HD techs and assume you went to MMI or work at a dealer. Our DVDs not only go through "how to" but "why" and even more important basic shop procedures. Joe Minton had a good article in the April issue of American Rider Magazine. Click here to review it.

Q: How long does it take to ship?

A: We ship USPS First Class Mail which can take 3-5 days to deliver in the US. Fix My Hog® ships on Mon-Wed-Fri – unless there is a holiday to throw things off.

Q: Do your DVDs cover the Twin Cam 96 in / 6 Speed?

A: Yes. Here are the few changes in regards to service
1) Primary chain adjustment is done away with on the 2007 (or 2006 Dyna)
2) When HD went to Formula+, the interval changed to 20K on the transmission fluid (after the 1K service).  2006 and 2007 models both had the transmission fluid service listed at 20K.
3)  Primary fluid is at 1K, 10K and every 10K

Q: Do you have a 3D version of the Twin Cam engine?

A: Harley has a great one on their website at:

http://www.harley-davidson.com/wcm/Content/Pages/Engines/2007_twincam96_minisite.jsp?locale=en_US

Q: I have a Dyna. What Fix My Hog® DVD should I get and why don’t you have a Dyna Edition DVD?

A:  The Softail Edition.
I understand I have a 1984 Dyna and I made these videos to help with maintenance on my bike. The Softail and Dyna Evo and Twin Cam are very similar when it comes to “maintenance.” No need to get fired up, I know our Dyna’s are unique.

Q: Do you show the FLT fairing removal on the Street Glides?

A: No, not on the Touring Edition DVD. But we have it on the Hogger Area for free.

Q: Will doing my own maintenance on my Harley void my warranty?

A: No… Please call your dealer or speak with a Harley-Davidson customer service representative at (414) 343-4056 and ask them the question and document the answer. From what we understand, as long as you document the service intervals, it will not void your warranty.

Q: Do you cover pre 1984 Harley's?

A:  No, not at this time.

Q: How do you fit 2 ½ hours of high resolution video and audio on one DVD?

A: DVD9 – The 1st disc on the Touring and Sportster Editions DVDs and all Bolt-On DVDs are DVD9s.
DVD-9 holds around 7.95 computer GB. Also called Single Sided Dual Layered the layer break is at Steering Head adjustment chapters on the Sporty and Touring DVDs. If you have an older DVD player, you might see a hiccup in this chapter at the layer break. It should play through. If not try another DVD player or the DVD player on your computer.
To provide the highest quality video and audio experience with the least number of DVDs we use DVD9s for our large content titles.

Q: What is 16:9 ratio and Letterbox

A: We filmed the Bolt-On DVDs in High Definition.
16:9 is the ratio of width to height of the screen on a High Definition TV (HDTV) set. It provides a wider rectangle compared to the 4:3 ratio of standard TV sets and most computer monitors. Watching many movies in their original format on a 16:9 screen will still result in letterbox viewing. If you play it on a standard TV you it may stretch the image to fill the screen.

Q: I did not get the My Service Sheet login, who do I contact?

A: Please email Chris Hajer at support@myservicesheet.com or call 866-241-6747

Q: What charity do you donate to from sales of My Service Sheet?

A: So far: Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Research, Children's Hospital San Diego, CA and Cure Autism Now

Q: What's the "script" and if I register my DVD when and how will I get the "script"?

A: The script is word for word what Bob is saying on the Softail, Sportster and Touring Edition DVDs.  You can print it out and have a copy for your shop. We will email you the script after we receive your registration it usually comes the next day but can take a week or so. We are automating the process now. *not available for the Bolt-On  DVD series.

Q: Why use Loctite?

A: Loctite is OEM specified and they are a great company, with great products.
Print out the motorcycle application guide they made and keep your nuts from falling off.
Loctite PDF link

Q: What fluids are best for my bike?

A: It’s too big of a debate to tackle here.
Check out this site: http://www.spectro-oils.com/tech/?action=v=27

Q: Why are my login and password not working?

A: We switched to a new system 09/01/06 and if you had a login and password prior to that date you will have to start a new account.

Q: What does Know Thy Hog® mean?

A: If you ride, you should know what you are riding. If something goes wrong on a ride, instead of calling a tow truck you might be able to Fix My Hog®.

Q: What does "Don't Let Monday Wreck your Sunday™" mean.

A: Hey, I'm lucky if I get Sunday off so I'm not going to worry about all the crap that I have to do on Monday and cut my Sunday short. If someone says, “Hey let's not ride back till later Sunday night,” That’s fine with me. Monday is for work - Sunday is for me, 12am - 11:59pm

Q: What's you favorite color?

A: Ocean Blue

Q: Where do baby Harleys come from?

A: Wauwatosa, WI, York, PA, and Kansas City, MO.
