Cylinder Base Gasket

Question for Fix My Hog Doing a rebuild and when putting the front cylinder base gasket on I noticed it didn’t have a hole in gasket for what I believe to be a oil passage hole. Went to buy new gasket and Harley-Davidson shop said that was the gaskets they used on their rebuilds and assumed the hole wasn’t needed. I would like to know if I should put a hole in the gasket or just use as is?

Fix My Hog Answers Use solid gaskets to cover passages for any stock configuration. If the motor has been bored over (big bore), you may need to leave passages open depending on what the machinist did. There are gaskets available that have the allocations for the passages. Best bet, if not sure, replace what you removed upon dis-assembly.
