HD Battery

QuestionI have a 2007 Ultra Classic that is being temperamental on the start mode. I have owned it just short of a year. I just replaced the battery(orig. battery) thinking the under voltage release was doing its job. The new HD battery never has come up to full charge with a float charger. Ten hours all toll over two times of clipping it on. Turns over with good voltage according to the computer. Dumb founded.

AnswerWe would not rely on what your charger reads. You need to use a multi-meter. Test your charging system.

follow the diagnosis steps in determining if it's the battery, voltage regulator, or stator. I did and found out it was my voltage regulator. It's easy to swap out. I have a 2006 Ultra classic. good luck

A few months ago had to get a new aftermarket battery for the stroked shovel and the float/maintenance .75ma charger didn't get it charged enough to float it even after a couple nights. Connected it to a Schumacher 2a/10a/50a using the 2a and it finally charged enough to turn it off. A couple days ago had to get a new battery for a different scoot that is still stock and got an HD battery from the HD dealer, they said it was already charged and sure enough when it got home I checked it with the multi-meter and plugged it to the charger and it was all juiced up already. For grins connected the .75a float to it this morning and after about 1 minute it went to float mode. Now if I could just get the 6V float charger to someday turn off?@$%&!!

I have a 2012 Softail Classic. On cold days when I go to start it it turns over real slow and even to the point it stops and then will turn over ago then finally start. I keep my display on the gear/ rpm. When the bike cranks it shows mileage. I have had my local dealership check it out. They tell me that the charging system and battery are fine. They said it has to do with compression in the motor. I don't have this trouble when it's warm. I keep a battery tender on it at home. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks !! Bud
