Load Test Battery

Question for Fix My Hog I’ve pulled enough hair out I need help. I have replaced battery, ignition relay, starter, checked connections, looked for loose wires. The bike still won’t start! The battery is at 12.4 volts when I take charger off. I try to start bike it might turn over a couple times then acts like battery is to low to start. Just hear the starter make a klick, klick, klick sound. The bike did start three days ago and I rode for a few miles then turned off waited a couple minutes then tried to start again and it did. Put charger back on tried to start yesterday and again today and will not start just what I stated above.

Fix My Hog Answers You need to be using a quality, known good, battery. HD – Yuasa – Drag – Spike. If you have a new, quality, battery; have it load tested by a tech. Make sure your battery cables are clean & tight at both ends. Also, test your charging system.

HELP 99 FLHT. New 600cca battery tested 580 cca, New starter, new switch, new relay, and new stator. This thing will not even turn over the starter when cold. When hot it will most of the time. I installed a fail safe button and it works every time. What is the problem? It's not getting enough power when cold.

If the bike still has problems starting after changing the battery.Change the starter.Only use HD or deka battery.

Just commenting on the chap that put all the work into getting there bike to start with no luck.First, put a deka battery in the bike.Last.Just buy a new starter & install.Problem solved.I went through the same issues with my 1995 fltchu.Starter clutch was shot.

Check your ignition switch. I had the same problem with my 95 Softail and found that it wasn't making contact consistency. The roller ball was scored by the spring washer and was loose. Got a new spring washer and tightened up the assembly. Works fine now.

Try jump stating it. If it starts, your battery is junk! If it doesn't, do all mentioned.

Mine did the exact same thing. At 12.7 volts...only clicks when hitting the start button. Load tested the battery and the CCA were one-third of that stated on the battery. New battery solved the problem.

The reason I cancelled my subscription to fix my hog is I tried to order a DVD to be informed you do not send to U.K. When do you think that will change. Regards Roger Mair
