So I installed a screaming eagle manual primary chain adjuster.
I did like baker or Hayden.
The SE manual adjuster has worked just fine in the 12k miles I rode in the last two years with no problems.
The free play is still with in specs.

Both synthetic and regular oil gets dirty at 3k miles, at least on my 2006 Heritage softail. I use redline synthetic 20/50 and have the stock cam chain tensioner, the shoes were only half worn at 64k miles on the 2006 stock engine.

The Hayden is a good unit but truthfully, it wouldn’t hurt to have a look in there every couple of seasons anyway
IMHO

On the other hand the cam chain tensioners are crucial. The upgrade kit to hydraulic runs about $500 but could save you a lot more than that. It involves replacing the cam support plate which means taking the cams out as well. I’ve still heard you should inspect them at around 50K just to be safe

Works great and I havw several others who put one on and they it.
