Trouble with Harley Carburetor

Q: I have a 1999, 1200 Sportster and install a carb kit but still can’t start bike after it warms up. Tried adjusting mixing valve but not having any success. Can you give me any tips what to do ? Thanks Dean

A: Did this problem previously exist? What did the Harley carburetor kit consist of and what did you address? What happens when you use the enrichener? Will the bike run without the enrichener? Start it cold and check for an intake leak. Make sure you have no trouble codes in your speedo head. It may not be a fuel issue. It can be a bad sensor.

I can’t get my ‘73 shovel head to stop popping at low speeds, once it’s rolling and I throttle up half way, it won’t pop. The carburetor has been totally rebuilt.

Hello, I have a 2003 Sportster 883 XLH. I start my bike when it's cold with no issues. I ride it and when i get home I try restarting it and will not start. I checked coil and it is properly working, checked carb and fuel flowing good in the body throttle, battery brand new and fully charged, spark plugs cleaned and properly gap, there is spark. Once bike cools down it has no problem starting and runs great. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

I need some HELP. Recently bought a 1990 softtail and tried to start it after its been storage for 4-6 years. as the engine cranks over and fires there's a stream of oil coming from the hole in the round plate that the air filter is attached to. what's causing this and how do I fix it/ there is an oil line coming from the back of the oil pump that goes directly to this location. Thanks, Max Hall

I had this issue with my 1988 FLHTC and it was a bad connector. I was sure that it was related to the carb. I did also discover an intake leak (S&S Super E). Once I got both of those fixed she runs like a new bike.

I had the same issue with my 1998 XLH1200. Would not start after it was warmed up. After it cooled down awhile it would start right up. Turned out it was the ignition module. Replaced it and haven't had an issue since. Word
