In reply to Anthony E Brown. I have done this conversion on at least 40 Sportsters. When I had my shop.Without any problems. The after market sells a mounting kit you can buy through V-Twin, Drag Specialties. Bikers Choice ext. You will have to relocate your coil, under the left tank, between the cylinders, which they sell a bracket for. And move the horyn to the lower front frame. The 4.2 split tanks look great on this setup.

I have a 1986 FXSTC that has been sitting for a long time…How do you get the fuel tank off??? I thought this was about all HD models even even 34 year old bikes.

We would not recommend using anything other than the correct HD fuel tank for the Sportster.
We are not saying that it can not he accomplished.
But if you were to attempt, and wish to have an end result that is secure, functional, and looks good; you will have your work cut out for you.

Replaced 5 gallon tank for a 7+ gallon on a 2007 Flhtcui. Have issues of the bike stalling. Low RPM. Tried several different types of fixing. Any thoughts?
