Hi Robert. You should be using a MINIMUM of 93 octane on your Harley Davidson.
That is what has been determined to be best for your engine and best for performance by the engineers and riders.

The Harley manual calls fort 93 octane gas for my 2013 Road King. Everything is stock. However, it seems to me that 91 works just fine. Why do I need 93 for a 9.5 : 1 compression engine?

Hi Latt. We do not know what you have for pipes. You get the best gas mileage by leaving the Harley completely stock and running 93 octane fuel.
Any performance upgrades, correctly made, will typically increase horsepower & torque while diminishing gas mileage.

If you are happy with both the audible and the performance, would recommend not changing a thing.

I installed the (V&H) Naked air filter with the FP3. I like the sound of the stock mufflers (very quite). We also have a 1992 Heritage Softail Classic with over 111,000 miles on it no problems and still runs very strong. It has a Vance & Hines 2 into 1. Now that is loud ! Does our 2014 really need a muffler up grade ? I really like how quite it is. The Harley has plenty of power ! Thank You

Hi, Glenn. When you notice another Ultra Classic that has the sound you like; ask, or try to figure out, what the rider did to obtain that sound. Also, look at slip-on mufflers to change your sound and customize your motorcycle.

Hi, John. We believe that anything, other than your stock configuration, would be non compliant in California. Better to ask your closest Department of Motor Vehicles for a definitive answer.
