Hi Randy. Usually, the condition that you describe comes about when the pilot jet becomes blocked.
However, if the bike was running correctly prior to replacing cam chain tensioners, you may want to go back and readjust your pushrods. It is of utmost importance that the tappet is on the cam’s base circle, on each pushrod you are adjusting.

I have the issue. I have a 2002 Deuce and it ran fine with the exception of a timing chain noise so I replaced the tensioner shoes and made sure to keep everything in time but now it won’t stay running without the choke out. I inspected the carb bowl, main jet and slow jet and all was clean. The only thing I can think of, is did I adjust the adjustable pushrods correctly. At TDC I got the pushrods to zero lash and did 4 turns and waited for the lifters to bleed down. Please help
