Hello Kevin,

Here’s what the experts had to say about your question:

That sounds like, pre-load was set up incorrectly or forks were incorrectly assembled.

Dear Ralph,

Thank you for your patience. In regards to your question-

You will need to replace your fork seals.
We also suggest replacing the upper and lower bushings.
When the assembly is apart, closely inspect the fork tubes. If there is a lot of surface wear lines, there is a goid chance that the tubes will also need replacement in order for the assembly to seal.

I got my 08 1200Classic Sportster out today for a ride. Been raining for a month. Anyway, I made it about 2 miles and oil pouring out of my Left fork. Can’t tell exactly where from. seems to be down low around brake assembly. Any suggestions. ?? I will begin disassembly tomorrow to replace all seals and such. Thanks., Old Hippy
