Chopper Lit Crit

Most bikers, even newbies, can probably do most of the maintenance on their motorcycles if they know what to do. That’s the premise behind the Fix My Hog videos. The Sportster edition that we reviewed was well-done and looks to be the perfect starting place for the rider with little experience but a desire to do his/her own maintenance.

Pro mechanic Bob LaRosa’s shop is the scene for the video and Bob is the mechanic / narrator. He does an excellent job of not only explaining how to do various maintenance procedures, but also why he does it that way. And it should be noted that he does things the right way, cleaning oil plugs as he takes them out, wiping stuff off as he goes, etc. Show off!

Subjects covered in the three hour, two DVD set include adjusting cables, servicing brake pads and calipers, bleeding brakes, adjusting steering head bearings, etc.

Yeah, yeah, I know you all know how to do all that stuff the right way (wink, wink). Get this for your buddy/wife/girlfriend who is just getting into bikes. That way, you won’t have to work on their bikes. Saves more time for you to actually ride. You might even learn something, though. Never can tell.
