Engine guard installation or crash/skate bar installation on an M8 Softail Lowrider St, FXLRST is quick and easy. Engine guards or crash bars are the latest product for protecting your bike from drops or low speed crashes. It is a new design based on the same principle as the hoop-style crash bars, but with a modern look. Also, they double as highway pegs.

In this video lesson Steve Knoble completes the engine guard installation by carefully removing the stock foot controls and the plugs that cover the threaded holes in the frame. He also installs the engine guard and then reinstalls the foot controls onto the Softail Lowrider. In addition to covering the engine guard installation procedure, Steve discusses use of the proper mounting hardware, where thread locker is needed, and what the proper torque specifications are for the bolts and fasteners.
