I started motorcycle riding in 1974 and initially I rode summer and winter, after some 25 years I stopped doing that, January and February I’m not riding anymore, too cold. Over the years I had two solo FLH Electra Glides (74 CID) and one FLHC Electra Glide with a factory original sidecar (80 CID) all Shovelheads. Also have a 42WLA (45 CID) since 1987. In 2012 I decided to buy a new Twin Cam Harley-Davidson which would have no radio so only one option for me, cause I like the Touring models, a Road King. It became a Road King Classic that I upgraded with a SE Ventilator Air filter and Vance & Hines power duals completed with monster rounds, SEPST, Police solo seat and handlebar 56569-09 which needed some modifications for the throttle by wire that is common for the Road King. The detachable windshield I only install when I hit the road for several days in a row. The reason that I became a member of Fix My Hog is to become more knowledgeable about the Twin Cam Harley-Davidsons. Maintenance is done by me and your site is very helpful in doing that.

I recently purchased the Fix My Hog premium membership during the Sturgis special. I have a 2012 Harley Road King and I was looking at a $500 bill for my 20k mile service. I have been out of work and under-employed for the last year, so every penny counts these days. So I am working through the service myself and so far I have changed all three oils and greased the steering head bearing. I kept the laptop near my side the whole time and used the FMH videos to guide me along. I have to say the video instruction was spot on and very helpful. The bad news is a few days after I had some warranty work done, a guy in a four wheel drive jacked up Ford F-150 backed into my bike in a parking lot. Now it is sitting in the shop waiting on his insurance to fix it. I am looking forward to finishing the service with FMH along side when I get it back. I have attached a picture of me and the bike before and after.

My wife Donna and I own a 2012 Harley-Davidson Triglide. We bought it new and just rolled over 16,000 miles Hawaiian style on Oahu. Our 103 Trike has standard brake pads (no ABS) so I decided to jump on the web, put a few key words into Google and found www.fixmyhog.com. Not knowing anything about the site and not having time to read the testimonials, I signed up for the newsletter and watched a couple of the free videos. That’s when I learned about paying for premium videos. I wasn’t prepared that evening. A couple of days later I received a special offer and decided to take a chance. That’s when got to view the premium video on changing my brake pads. Thorough, educational and instructive. Wow! Brake pads came in Thursday night and was back on the road the next day.

I joined FMH last year, just renewed a few weeks ago. I have been viewing numerous videos and have been helped by them for repairs and upgrades on my bike as well as friends bikes. They are surprised when I am able to offer information and direction when they need help. I have personally been helped with brakes, wheel bearings, tuneup and electrical information. Great videos and hands on repairs. Has saved me tons and raised my confidence level to do my own work.

I bought this from Uncaged cycles in Longview, Washington. It’s a 1991 HD 883 Hugger California special according to the vin number. The previous owner help start Uncaged cycles (Harley Davidson dealership). His name was Mike I was told he had a seizure while at work he fell and hit his head and died at work. His wife needed money to help cover the bills. So everyone that works there had there picture taken with the Sportster while I went to the bank and withdrew the funds. Since his name is the same as mine. My wife and I decided to name the bike “Mike”. I was told that he liked eyeballs and I was asked if I knew who Von Dutch is and I kinda laughed and said are you serious..of course I do. They said he was Mike’s mentor. So I decided to paint the HD symbol on the tank into a eyeball in respect for “Mike and Von Dutch”. I haven’t had a chance to paint it yet but I will really soon. I also need to replace the choke cable. The motor is not stock I have no idea exactly what has been done but I figured that Mike was a HD mechanic so it doesn’t matter. I’m going to leave it alone, no upgrades for mike “the bike”…….my wife made a point for me too leave it alone “I also am a mechanic” I agreed. This machine is perfect just the way it is smooth plenty of power its a turn key bike. Mike C

I just joined Fix My Hog. I’m a bit of an old timer. Been riding about 55 years. I used to compete in hill climbs and flat track when I wore a younger mans clothes. I still enjoy the fast lane, but not in competition anymore. I’ve done most of my motor work myself over the years but found some helpful information in your videos. I’m impressed with the details you present that sometimes aren’t shown in the maintenance manuals. Good work.
This is my latest project, a mostly 2005 Sportster 883L frame with an 80 cubic inch (a little over 1300 cc) nitrous oxide burning motor. It puts out about 160 hp with the nitrous, but is still road reliable. I’m looking forward to you’re future videos and news letters.
